Gunmen Abduct Catholic Priest In Imo

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a Catholic priest, Rev. Prof. Izu Marcell Onyeocha, in Imo State.

It was gathered that the priest was abducted around 7:00 am on Sunday, April 11, at Ihube Community in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State, along Enugu -Port Harcourt Express Road

The cleric is said to be a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Humanities at the Imo State University and a native of the Avuru Community in the Ikeduru Local Government Area.

He was said to have been traveling back to Owerri from Enugu when the incident happened.

According to an eyewitness, the priest was driving when the gunmen forced him to stop by shooting sporadically into the air

The eyewitness said that the villagers heard sporadic gunshots and later confirmed the identity of the victim with his cassock and identity card.
