A Ghanaian man claims that the Assemblies of God Church demanded that he pay all outstanding tithes before his marriage could be officially performed.

An anonymous Facebook user has shared an experience he had with members of his church in an effort to raise awareness.

His dissatisfaction was expressed on a Facebook group called Manokekame, where he called out his church’s leadership after they demanded that he make full payment for all unpaid tithes before his marriage could be conducted by the congregation.

He said that following his conventional wedding, he met with members of his church’s clergy to plan the details of his white wedding.

According to the post, the church inquired of him to determine whether or not he was a devoted tithe giver, to which he responded that he was not.

Following that, a church administrator said emphatically that he is not a member of the congregation. His narration continued, and he said that they were not to visit his lady’s pastor and that they had been instructed to do a number of laboratory tests.

They were also asked to complete a marriage questionnaire, which he described as “preposterous” since some of the questions he thought were ridiculous.
