A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Timi Frank, has called on the European Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom to prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC not to postpone the forthcoming general election.
Frank in a statement issued Thursday alleged that there was a potent plot by those he described as “enemies of democracy” to trigger a postponement of the elections, which according to him, would perfect the plans by the elements of rigging.
He alleged that a recent media report that the APC was seeking postponement of the elections for four weeks has vindicated his claim that the ruling party has commenced a plot to derail the elections.
Frank alleged that APC Governors who are backing the candidacy of the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu have been mobilized to blackmail the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and President Mohammadu Buhari to postpone the elections.
He said: “It has become imperative for leaders of advanced democracies and defenders of freedoms like the USA, UK, and EU, among others, to impress it on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC not to succumb to APC’s blackmails, but to conduct the elections as scheduled.
“The purpose of calling for the postponement of the elections is not in the interest of Nigerians, it is being motivated by their candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who had used the same method to emerge the flagbearer of the party for 2023.”
