Five Years After Divorce, Woman Returns To Her Ex-husband’s House In Ikorodu To Beat Up His New Wife

A 38-year-old woman, Ruka Tayo, and her friend, Jimoh Abiola, 35, were arraigned before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 12, for beating up her former husband’s new wife.

 

Tayo and her co-defendant allegedly beat up the complainant at the residence of her former husband in Ikorodu, five years after their divorce.

The two defendants are standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy to commit an offense and assault. They, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.

The Prosecutor, ASP Gbemileke Agoi, told the court that the defendants committed the offenses on Feb. 26 at about 4:p.m at Road 7, Mowowole Estate, Oreta Igbogbo area of Ikorodu.

Agoi alleged that the defendants conspired together and beat up the complainant, one Mrs. Adeyemi Morenikeji, at her husband’s residence because she married the former husband of one of the defendants.

According to him, the offenses contravened the provisions of Sections 412 and 172 of Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs. R. A. Onilogbo, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N50,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

She adjourned the case till March 31, for mention.
