GIOTV reports that no fewer than 50 buildings and shops have been razed during a fire incident that occurred at Makoko Community in Lagos State.
It was gathered that the inferno, which started on Tuesday evening and extended to Wednesday morning, has rendered occupants of the affected buildings homeless.
Speaking with newsmen on Friday, some of the affected occupants disclosed that they passed the night at the scene of the fire incident, adding that they hardly find shelter whenever it rains.
“Our houses were gutted by fire. We don’t have any house for now. We are sleeping on the site (of the fire incident). When it rains, we have difficulty. Some of us are also accommodated by relatives and friends. We want the government to help us,” one of the victims said.
As gathered by GIOTV, the inferno was confirmed by the Chairman of Yaba Local Council Development Association, Kayode Omiyale, on Friday.
Omiyale, who sympathized with the victims, attributed the cause of the fire incident to an electrical spark, noting that no life was lost in the inferno.
