Fire Guts Building In Nta-Mgbuoba, Port Harcourt

The negative effects of fireworks popularly called knockouts were today seen within Rumuokwuta-Mgbuoba axis of NTA-Mgbuoba road in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State after a section of a building was gutted by fire.

An eyewitness said the fire started when some men in the building threw the fireworks in the air which went to the roof from where the fire started.

The eyewitness said it took the intervention of the men of the federal fire services who arrived at the scene of the incident to put off the fire.

The fire was promptly put off before it could spread to other parts of the building.

No casualty was recorded in the incident.

Recall that the State Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka had in a statement through the acting Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, warned against the sale and use of fireworks, threatening to arrest and prosecute anyone caught flouting the order.
