Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly admitted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Edo State, Onuoha, is his cousin.
Wike made this statement in response to allegations by the Edo State PDP Chairman, Anthony Aziegbemhin, that he was colluding with Onuoha to compromise the upcoming governorship election.
The minister fired back at Aziegbemhin and Governor Godwin Obaseki’s PDP, saying they cannot intimidate his cousin, who has been posted to Edo State for over a year.
Wike questioned why the PDP was only now raising concerns about Onuoha’s relationship with him, when they had previously sought his support for their candidate. He accused them of playing politics with the issue.
