The Youth President of the Ugbodu community in the Aniocha North Local Government of Delta State, Mr Ifeanyi Nkeosenyem, has allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl.

It was gathered that the incident, which allegedly happened on Thursday, was the seventh rape allegation against Nkeosenyem.

It was learnt that the suspect is an uncle to the victim.

A source in the community said the suspect visited the victim’s parents but did not meet them at home and allegedly defiled the victim on her parents’ matrimonial bed.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, stated, “Nkeosenyem, who is the youth president of the community, lured the victim onto the matrimony bed of her parents, defiled her and said her parents couldn’t do anything since they were poor and he could always buy his way out.

“This is not the first time the man was indulging in the act of defiling minors in the community.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who confirmed the incident, described it as an evil act against humanity.

She said the suspect had been arrested and transferred to the state police command headquarters in Asaba.

“The suspect has been arrested. He is at the state Criminal Investigation Department. Because the matter is a serious crime, we really need the court, but the COVID-19 lockdown mobile court cannot handle it. The suspect will be charged after the lockdown,” PPRO stated.
