COVID-19: Enugu Records Third Case

Enugu has announced a new confirmed positive case of COVID-19 in the State.

The new case, coming about two weeks after the two index cases were discharged, is said to have a positive travel history.

A statement by the Ministry of Health said the confirmed case reportedly traveled out of Enugu on March 28 and returned from Jos, Plateau State two weeks ago on April 14.

The case reportedly developed symptoms on April 21 and reported to a frontline health center in the state on Saturday, April 25.

A vigilant health care worker, operating on a high index of suspicion contacted the Enugu State COVID-19 Rapid Response Team and the case was brought in for sample collection on April 27.

The result returned on the evening of April 28 positive.

The patient has been admitted into one of the Treatment and Isolation Centres “while contacts are being identified, line-listed, and for samples to be taken for testing.”

Decontamination of the residence of the case, the Ministry of Health, said will also be promptly carried out.

The statement commended the brave frontline health care workers, who the government noted have continued to professionally discharge their duties.
