Chris Olakpe, LASTMA CEO, Is Dead

Chris Olakpe, the chief executive officer and chairman of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), is dead.

According to PUNCH, Olakpe died at an undisclosed hospital in the on Sunday.

Isaac Adetimiro, LASTMA director of research and statistics, who reportedly, confirmed the incident said nobody knew the Olakpe was ill and he did not show any sign of sickness.

“We heard about it this morning. He did not show any sign of any sickness. We are really shocked,” he was quoted to have said.

The deceased was a graduate of sociology and anthropology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.

He joined the Nigerian police force as a cadet assistant superintendent in 1980 and rose through ranks to become the assistant inspector-general of police.

Akinwunmi Ambode, a former governor of Lagos, appointed him CEO of LASTMA in 2015
