A stunning revelation has emerged that Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Yemi Cardoso and his four deputies have acquired bulletproof SUVs worth a staggering N10 billion. This extravagant purchase comes as Nigerians struggle to cope with economic hardship and inflation.

According to sources, the CBN officials have also significantly increased their allowances, further straining the bank’s resources. Governor Cardoso reportedly procured six armoured Lexus LX 600 2023 models, with two for his personal use and one for each of the four deputy governors.

This lavish spending has raised eyebrows, especially considering the CBN officials already had armoured vehicles in their convoys. Additionally, 20 Toyota Camry cars were purchased for management and board members, while the officials also upgraded their international travel privileges to first class and increased their foreign travel allowances.

The CBN’s priorities have come under scrutiny, with many questioning how such extravagance aligns with the bank’s mandate to address Nigeria’s economic challenges.
