The Nigeria Labour Congress has pegged the new national minimum wage for workers in the South-West geopolitical zone at N794,000.
This comes amid the debate over what should be the new minimum wage considering the current economic realities.
The chairperson of the Lagos State chapter of the NLC, Funmi Sessi, during her presentation at the ongoing public hearing of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage in Ikeja, Lagos on Thursday, mentioned the figure.
According to Sessi, it was what members of the union in the South-West region unanimously agreed on.
The current minimum wage is N30,000, and it was approved by the immediate past government of Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

The NLC President earlier said that organised labour might demand up to N1 million as the new minimum wage for Nigerian workers if the rising inflation remained unchecked.
Ajaero said the demand for organised labour would be determined by the cost of living.
