Bandits who kidnapped 85 villagers at Wanzamai in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State have released 74.

One of the residents of the area, Usman Mohammed, confirmed that 74 victims were released last Friday night, adding that the remaining 11 persons were still in captivity.

“We are happy that the bandits on Friday night released 74 victims out of the 85 they have kidnapped but we are still not comfortable as the remaining 11 villagers are still being detained by the bandits.

“We have not seen the remaining 11 persons and we don’t know what happened to them.

“Even after the terrorists have collected an additional amount of N3 million promising to release our people and now they released 74 victims.

“The terrorists did not inform us whether the remaining 11 persons were alive or not,” he said.

According to him, some of the released victims were currently in Wanzamai and Yankara hospitals receiving treatment, while others were in their various homes.

It was reported that both the state government and the police command were yet to issue statements on the release of the victims.
