In what will come across a rather startling development, bandits have kidnapped the wife of the Secretary of Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA), in Sokoto State, Oro Yakubu.

The bandits have demanded a ransom of N30 million to free their captive.

She was said to have been kidnapped on the way from Lambar Bakura to Lambar Tureta while going to Sokoto from Tsafe.

SaharaReporters learnt the bandits contacted the family, demanded N30 million which was negotiated down to N2.5 million.

The bandits, accordingly gave 7:00 am Friday as the deadline for payment, threatening that failure to meet the deadline would force them to take an unfavourable action.

ECWA church is soliciting prayers as effort to raise the funds is ongoing.

“Please pray for Reverend Yakubu Oro and the entire ECWA Sokoto DCC,” a church member said.
