Bandits Abduct 44 In Zamfara

Suspected bandits invaded Kanwa community in the Zurmi Local government Area of Zamfara State and abducted 44 persons.

A source told Dailypost that the bandits moved from house to house in Thursday night.

The source added that the community of late has experienced pockets of attacks by the bandits, lamenting that the situation has caused fear in the hearts of the residents.

A notorious bandit leader called Dankarami, according to the source, is alleged to have led the mass abduction of the people in the community.

He further explained that Dankarami has been terrorizing residents of Zurmi – Birnin Magaji – Jibia axis in Zamfara and neighbouring Katsina states, saying that his activities have caused serious setbacks in all spheres of life to the people.

Following the abduction of the 44 persons, the bandits were yet to call relatives of the victims to demand for ransom.

SP Muhammad Shehu, the spokesman of the state police command, could not be reached to confirm the incident.
