The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has come under fire after he attempted to explain why he deleted a tweet condemning the killing of Deborah Samuel over the weekend.
Recall that Deborah Yakubu, a 200-level Home Economics student of Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State, was earlier this year stoned to death and set ablaze by Islamic extremists for alleged blasphemy.
Apart from deleting the tweet, Atiku offered an apology in Hausa saying he didn’t approve the tweet.
Nigerians who watched him speak at The People’s Townhall on Channels Television in Abuja on Sunday lambasted Atiku.
They wondered how he could say he condemned the act, then went ahead to delete the tweet, even offering apology to people who had kicked against him condemning the murder.
