At least 11 residents have been reportedly killed after gunmen attacked the Maikatako community in Butura District in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State in the early hours of today, November 16.
DailyTrust reports that the gunmen stormed the community at about 1am and began shooting continuously and burning houses. Many people were also said to have been injured during the attack apart from those killed and the houses razed down.
“So far, about 11 persons are dead” a resident of the community said and added that some were burnt beyond recognition
The resident said the attackers returned to the community at about 8:00 am and began shooting. He said there was yet to be any counterattack from security operatives.
The state police command is yet to comment on this development.
