Army Releases TASUED SUG President, Hands Over Other Students To EFCC

GIOTV reports that the Nigerian Army has released the Student Union President of Tai Solarin university of Education (TASUED) Sodiq Ridwan and handed over other arrested students to Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

It could be recalled that Ridwan was arrested on Friday by the soldiers after intervening in a protest by the students against soldiers.

The protest started few minutes after some Army operatives started searching students moving in different cars along Conoil Filling Station, Ijagun, Ijebu Ode.

The National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Asefon Sunday, confirmed the release of Ridwan.

He disclosed that other students arrested were accused of Fraud and subsequently moved to the office of EFCC in Ibadan, capital of Oyo State.

He said: “The President and other student officials who were arrested have been released. Others were alleged of fraud and have been moved to EFCC office at Ibadan.“If truly it’s fraud, their families should face it out with the EFCC. I won’t get involved in that.”

Asefon said Ridwan was well and recuperating.
