A man suspected to be a serial armed robber and rapist has been lynched by angry residents in Ibadan, Oyo State.

A gang of robbers had reportedly been terrorizing communities in Apete in the Ido Local Government Area for weeks now.

One of the suspected armed robbers was caught around 4 am on Wednesday, April 5, while on an operation in the Adagbada Arola area in Apete.

It was alleged that the suspected armed robber forcefully took mobile phones and an undisclosed amount of money from two ladies. He locked one of them inside a toilet while making moves to rape the other.

The one locked in the toilet managed to escape and alerted neighbors who then proceeded to lynch the suspect.

The case was later brought to the attention of police officers from Apete Divisional Headquarters on Wednesday.

The corpse was recovered by the police and taken to Adeoyo state hospital.
