The Ogun State Police Command has given more clarifications after popular Nigerian actor and movie director, Azeez Ololade Ijaduade was reportedly hit by a bullet in the neck.
A new update by the police revealed that the actor was hit by an ammunition shell, not a bullet.
The news of the alleged shooting filtered into social media over the night when a colleague of the victim, Abiodun Adebanjo, with the handle @iamabiodunadebanjo, posted the incident on Instagram.
The post read, “Please, we need help in Iperu. My director, Azeez Ijaduade, @kingzeez1, was shot by a Nigeria Police personnel.
“He is presently at Babcock University Teaching Hospital. Anybody with the contacts of the Police IG or Commissioner should reach out.”
The police in the state have since been brought under intense criticism over alleged unprofessionalism.
Reacting through a statement, the spokesperson of the state command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, explaining that a bullet shell hit the actor in the neck.
“During the Bramaj Company end-of-year party in a hotel, a mobile policeman attached to the Chinese expatriate expended a shot into the air, and unfortunately, the ammunition shell hit one Azeez Ijaduade “m “ an actor, on the neck,” Odutola said.
Police claimed that he is in a stable condition
“He was rushed to hospital in Ilishan and he is in a very stable condition,” she said.
Odutola, however, added that the officer had been arrested, and an investigation commenced into the incident.
