Again, Another Ritualist Arrested In Kwara

Policemen, on Saturday, arrested a man, Alade James of Alawe compound, Offa, in the process of burying a corpse at about 18:12 hours, at Ikotun area of Offa, Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State.

it was reported that the third alleged ritual case was reported within September alone in Kwara State.

According to the spokesman of the State police command, Mr. Okasanmi Ajayi, in a statement in Ilorin on Sunday, “preliminary investigation revealed that Alade James, had killed and was burying the 9-year-old girl, Faith Samuel of Onireke area, Offa, when he was caught in the act.”

“The corpse was recovered with an N1,000 note buried with it and deposited at the mortuary after certifying her dead by a doctor for autopsy,” Okasanmi stated.

He said the suspect confessed to the killing for a money-making ritual, while the parent of the deceased had been contacted.

The state Commissioner of Police, Tuesday Assayomo, has ordered a discrete investigation into the murder.

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old woman, Kafayat Jamiu, of Olupo farm settlement, Eruku in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara state, abducted recently, was rescued unhurt on Sunday.

She was abducted by gunmen on September 24, 2021, while sleeping in her room, but was rescued by the State police command’s tactical team, in conjunction with local hunters and vigilantes in the early hours of Sunday, 26/09/2021.

Okasanmi said the kidnappers, however, escaped with bullet injuries, while one locally fabricated assault rifle with four AK-47 ammunition was recovered.

Efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects are being intensified, he added.

The police command also confirmed the kidnap incident of Raji Ajibike and her two daughters, Raji Zainab and Raji Aliya, who were abducted on Friday night at Omu-Aran by unknown gunmen.

The spokesman said the case was reported by one Raji Ibrahim Abidemi, of TAIISA fuel station at about 2020 hours, to the effect that his wife and two daughters were abducted by unknown gunmen after firing shots to scare people away.

Recall that the Omu-Aran Development Association, ODA, had on Saturday confirmed the abduction of three members of the community and disclosed that some arrests had been made.

He advised the people to continue to support the police with information for the liberation of the captives, just as the command warned criminals to vacate and relocate from Kwara State.
