Court Judgment Sentencing Prophet Oladele Genesis For Frauds And Stealing

This is the Judgment of Hon. Justice O.A Akinlade of the High Court in Lagos on November 18th, 2020 sentencing popular Prophet and shepherd of the Celestial Church of Christ, Genesis Global Parish, Alagbado, Lagos, Israel Oladele Ogundipe to jail for defrauding, stealing and obtaining by tricks millions of Naira from unsuspecting public.

The self-acclaimed Prophet Genesis based in Alagbado, Lagos has been defrauding people posing as a “man of God” for decades but the full weight of the law has finally caught up with him.

Below is the extract of the Judgement;

} In delivering this judgment today, I must quickly state that it ought to have been delivered by on 14 day of November, 2020. However during the #endsars riot, my entire Courtroom was totally burnt down on the 21% of October, 2020-and a new Courtroom has not been allocated to me till date, hence the judgment is being delivered today after I was able to secure ‘another Courtroom for the delivery of this judgment. The Defendant was initially charged before the Court based on an Informatign dated 19/11/09, however beforé and in the course of trial the prosecution amended its Information twice. Therefore, byia 2™4 Amended Information dated 28″ February, 2013, the Defendant was charged as follows:| STATEMENT OF OFFENCE COUNT 1 ‘Stealing contrary to Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap C17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State 2003.

PARTICULARS OF OFFENCE

Prophet Israel Ola Ogundipe (M) on or about the 30″ of May, 2002 and December, 2002, at or around 32 Bello Street, Ladipo Estate, Ladipo, Shogunle, Ikeja in the Ikeja Judicial division stole the sum of 8900,000 from Mrs. Olaide Williams Oni when you fraudulently converted the said amount meant for the purchase of a piece of land in Lagos State for her to your own uge. . . | STATEMENT OF OFFENCE COUNT 2

Stealing contrary to Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Gode Law, Cap C17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State 2003.

PARTICULARS OF OFFENCE

Prophet Israel Ola Ogundipe (M) on or about January, 2003 and December, 2005, in the Ikeja Judicial division stole the sum of Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira from

purporting to be the passport of one Sanyaoluy Babatunde Solomon (Passport NUMBER

(A2799555).

STATEMENT OF OFFENCE COUNT 7

Ma Baale false staternents in an application to a@ public officer for the purpose of procuring a passport contrary to Section 190A of the Criminal Code Law, Cap C17, Vol. 2,

Laws of Lagos State 2003. ‘

PARTICULARS OF OFFENCE *

Prophet Israel Ola Ogundipe (M) about the month of October, 2004, at the Passport office, Oba Akinjobi Street, Ikeja, Lagos in the Ikeja judicial division caused to be made an application to a public officer to issue a Nigerian Passport to you in the name of Sanyaolu Babatunde Solomon, knowing fully well that the information is false and : thereby procured Passport Number A2799555 carrying your photograph.

The Defendant pleaded Not Guilty to the Charge preferred against him. In proof of its case, the prosecution called 6 witnesses and the Defendant testified in his defence, he . also called four other witnesses In proof of his case.

The 1* prosecution witness was one Mr. Peter Ademola Adeyemi, a plumber who lives at No. 2 Igbeinadun Street, Shasha, Akowonjo and he is hereinafter referred to as PW1.PW1 stated that he knows the Defendant as Prophet Oladele Ogundipe.

He also stated that he knows one Mrs. Laide Williams Oni who is his nephew’s wife, that she resides in the United Kingdom and that his nephew’s name ts Kayode Oni. Pw1 stated that sometimes in December 2007, his nephew called him on phone from London and he informed him that the Defendant was threatening his wife’s life. He also informed him that there was issue in respect of 3 Plots of land which the Defendant took from his wife (Pw2) and refused to return same. Pwl stated that after the complainant’s « husband called him in respect of threat to his wife’ 5 life by the Defendant, a lawyer was _ engaged and he petitioned Federal SARS at ‘AdenijisAdele to investigate the matter. Thereafter, the police invited the complainant (Pw2) and the Defendant, he followed Pw2 and her lawyer to the police station, the Defendant also came to the police station with hs lawyer and his Personal Assistant. Pw1 stated that in his presence both Pw2 and the Defendant were given the opportunity to write their statements, in his presence the Defendant admitted in writing that he owes Pw2 the sum of &8.5Million and an uncompleted property.

Pwi also stated that the Defendant handed over the piece of paper wherein he admitted owing Pw2 to the police and he also brought out a file which contained documents relating to the uncompleted building, however when the police examined the documents, they were rejected because they had no bearing.
