The Ogun State Government on Thursday announced four further instances of monkeypox, bringing the total to seven cases.
This was confirmed in a statement provided to journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital, by Dr. Festus Soyinka, Director of Public Health in the Ministry of Health.
He said that two cases had been reported in the Ota Local Government (Ado-Odo/Ota LG) and one each in the Abeokuta North and Abeokuta South LGs.
“Cumulative confirmed cases in Ogun State is now 7,” he added.
He added that the Disease Surveillance and Notification Officers (DSNOs) in the LGAs have carried out line listing and contact tracing of the patients, who he said were on medication at an undisclosed hospital.
“LGA DSNOs have carried out line listing and contact tracing. DSNOs reported that the patients are on medication prescribed for them in the hospital,” Soyinka said.
