Some officials of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have been abducted by some kidnappers along the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway, Daily Trust reports.
The four officials were coming from the board’s headquarters to the Kabba axis on Sunday, February 16, the evening was said to have been abducted at the Lokoja/Obajana/Kabba Road in Kogi State. It was gathered that the officials were on their way to Kabba in preparation for the mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination when the incident happened. Eyewitnesses said some gunmen suspected to be kidnappers ambushed the officials’ vehicle at the Obajana area and forced them into the bush.
Confirming the incident, the Kogi State Police Command spokesperson, DSP William Ayah, said a team of Anti-Robbery squad had been deployed to comb the area in search of the JAMB officials. Ayah said one of the officials who have been identified as Hamza has already been rescued and is currently receiving treatment in a nearby hospital.
Also reacting, the spokesperson for JAMB, Fabia Benjamin, said efforts are being made by the board in collaboration with relevant security agencies to ensure their release.
