GIOTV reports that a 26-year-old man, Yusuf Zubairu has been arrested by the police in Jigawa State for allegedly killing his 23-year-old wife, Fatima Hardo.
He was alleged to have murdered his wife during a fight.
The incident, which reportedly happened on Wednesday, December 27, 2021, was disclosed to the press by the police spokesperson in the State, Lawan Adam.
According to an eyewitness, Bulama Muntari-Ubale 65, the husband of the deceased, popularly referred to as “Allo”, used a stick to hit his wife on the head during the misunderstanding, which eventually led to her death. A woman who came to separate the fight was also seriously injured, Bulama said.
Adams while briefing the press on the development said: “In the process of the fracas, the said Yusuf Zubairu (AKA Sallau) used a stick and hit Fatima Hardo (now deceased) to stupor, on her head.
“When one Rabi Lawan, of the same address, came and separated them, the said Yusuf Zubairu, also inflicted serious injury on her.”
On receipt of the report, Adam said a team of policemen were dispatched to the scene of the incident where the couple resides at Baldi village, in Sule-Tankarkar Local Government Area of the State.
He disclosed that the victims were rushed to Gumel General Hospital where the wife of the suspect was certified dead by medical personnel.
He also said the second injured victim is being attended to at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the suspect as well as the exhibit he allegedly used on the deceased, are in police custody, the police spokesman said.
