22-year-old Housewife Allegedly Poisons Four Stepchildren To Death

A 22-year-old housewife, Khadija Yakubu has allegedly killed four stepchildren with poison in Potiskum town, Yobe State.

The incident occurred at Makara-Huta area of Potiskum in the early hours of Friday when the deceased took a poisoned tea allegedly prepared by their stepmother.

ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, Police Public Relations Officer Yobe State Command confirmed the incident, noting that the suspect has been apprehended.“Findings at hand indicated that the children have been rushed to hospital after taking the tea prepared by the said suspect in the early hours of today at about 0900hrs, 17 Sep, 2021, but three of the victims died while receiving treatments and one remained unconscious.

“Alhaji Haruna, who is the husband to the said suspect of the same area in Potiskum, reported the incident to the police at about 1300hrs”, the PPRO said.

According to him the victims were: Umar Alh Haruna, aged 12; Ahmed Alh Haruna, aged 9; Maryam Alh Haruna, aged 11 as well as a 7-year-old Zainab Alh Haruna.

ASP Abdulkarim added that, investigation has commenced to unravel circumstances surrounding the case for subsequent prosecution.
