19 People Killed As Flood Sweeps Away Their Vehicle In Kano

No fewer than 19 people have been confirmed dead in Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State after a vehicle they were travelling was washed away by flood.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Friday night following a downpour in the area.

The Village Head of Doguwa Town, Alhaji Yusif Umar Doguwa, who confirmed the incident, said so far, 15 copses were recovered while search was intensified to recover the remaining four victims of the disaster.

Doguwa said the vehicle was washed away by the flood after its engine went off in the middle of a bridge while the driver was passing through.

“The engine of the vehicle seized and the car stopped abruptly and before the driver could reignite it, the flood washed away the car including the passengers.

“We have not gotten any survivors so far even though the search is still ongoing,” the village Head said.

He explained that the bridge was submerged by flood following a downpour witnessed on Friday night.

Recall that Kano residents had also witnessed a downpour that lasted several hours on Thursday morning where several houses were submerged while property Worth N60 million were destroyed.
